Distant Consults with Dr. Edwards

Many areas of our country do not have Naturopathic Physicians and even fewer areas have Naturopathic Oncology Specialists. If you do not live in Oregon or cannot travel to see Dr. Edwards in his office, he offers distance consults for patients living in areas where few NDs are practicing.

Distance educational consults have restrictions. Dr. Edwards is not able to order labs, prescribe medications or bill insurance for these consultations. However, he is able to educate you on evidence-based ways to support yourself through your cancer journey with diet, lifestyle and nutritional/herbal supplement interventions. The goal of this approach is to minimize side effects, support your immune function, maintain quality of life and pursue the best outcome for your fight against cancer.

How does it work?

Once you have scheduled the consult, we will request records from your oncologist for review prior to the visit. You may also upload any medical records you have to our portal. Dr. Edwards will review all your records including pathology reports, genomic testing, treatment history and current medications and supplements.

By the end of your consult you will have a complete educational plan to help you address diet, lifestyle and supplement interventions. Dr. Edwards may also advise you on questions to ask your oncologist regarding various interventions, labs to request or other treatment options.

How do I schedule?

Once scheduled, you will be sent a link to our electronic medical record portal where you will be able to complete the health history and consent forms. The portal will also provide a HIPPA compliant way for you and Dr. Edwards to share information, educational documents and email communication.

Dr. Edwards offers a 25% cash-pay discount for distant educational consults and will charge you based on the length of the consult. The first visit is scheduled for 90 minutes and costs $325. Follow ups are scheduled for 60 minutes and cost $185. If the visit ends up being shorter than the allotted time, an adjustment will be made.
