Frequently Asked Questions
How do I schedule an appointment?
Please call 503-206-6218 between 9:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday through Friday to schedule your appointment.
Do you do free introductory consults so I can understand how Dr. Edwards will work with me?
Yes! Dr. Edwards wants you to understand how he works and if he will be the right fit before you schedule a full consult. Please call my front desk at 503-206-6218 between 9:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday through Friday and ask for a free 15 minute introductory appointment.
Does my insurance cover Dr. Edwards’ services?
Dr. Edwards is credentialed with most of the major insurance companies. He is not credentialed with Medicaid (Oregon Health Plan) nor Medicare. However, each insurance plan varies as to specific coverage. It is the patient’s responsibility to check with their insurance to ensure coverage. However, our billing department will also do a benefits check prior to your first visit to confirm coverage. If you do not have coverage for naturopathic services, we offer a 25% cash discount for payments made at the time of service.
Medicare does not cover naturopathic physicians in any state at this time. That being said, some “Medicare Advantage Plans” are starting to cover naturopathic services. Check with the Advantage Plan administrators to see if they include Naturopathic Medicine coverage. As of 2020 some Blue Cross Blue Shield and Pacific Source Advantage plans have coverage.
Are you accepting new patients?
Dr. Edwards is currently accepting new patients. He will make every attempt to get you scheduled as soon as possible.
How long is a visit?
New patient visits are scheduled for 90 minutes. Follow up visits are scheduled for 60 minutes. IV-therapy sessions can last between 30 minutes and 2.5 hours.
I don’t live in Oregon – can I still consult with Dr. Edwards?
Dr. Edwards offers educational telephone consultations for patients who live outside of Oregon. Because laws governing “telemedicine” insurance reimbursement varies widely, Dr. Edwards cannot bill your insurance for these educational consults. He will offer a 25% cash-pay discount for these visits and will charge you based on the length of the consult.
Think of the information shared in these consultations as the type of conversation you might have with a close friend who is a doctor – you may ask for their input or ideas but wouldn’t expect them to diagnose or prescribe medication without being seen in their clinic.
